1. Determine what specifically you will be using the angle grinder for. If you are using if for polishing smaller areas, you will need a grinder that has a 4-1/2-inch disc on the end. This smaller disc and grinder are more lightweight and easier to handle.

2. Decide how often you are going to be using the angle grinder. An angle grinder that will undergo constant use will need to be stronger and more powerful than one that will only be used once in a while.

3. Measure the area you will be using the angle grinder on for this particular application. Record the measurement for the length and width and determine what size disc to use based on these measurements.

4. Check how much area each of the discs will take up and pick the appropriate size angle grinder based on how much time you want to spend using it.
