How to Make a Glove Dog
What better time to learn the art of sewing than while making a toy? A do-it-yourself stuffed animal is a fun, low-cost project suitable for both adults and children. Due to their distinct and varied textures, knit materials are ideal for such projects. For stuffed dogs, knit gloves offer a great starting point. Select gloves with distinct colors and patterns to create a unique, custom-made stuffed animal.

1
Purchase a pair of knit wool finger gloves. Select the color and pattern that is best for your glove dog.
-
2
Turn one glove inside-out and use scissors to remove the thumb, middle and ring fingers. Sew the holes shut with a needle and thread.
-
-
3
Turn the glove and removed thumb, index and ring finger pieces right-side out. Fill each piece with cotton.
-
4
Sew the stuffed middle and ring finger pieces to the sides of the glove to create arms. Sew the thumb piece to the back of the glove between the index and pinky fingers to create a tail.
-
5
Turn the other glove inside-out and use scissors to remove the thumb, middle and ring fingers. Sew only the thumb hole shut with a needle and thread.
-
6
Fold the glove so that the pinky and index fingers lay on top of each other, with the sewn thumb hole facing up. Draw a curved line on the wrist of the glove and sew along the line with a needle and thread. Cut along the line to remove the excess material.
-
7
Turn the glove right-side out. Fill it with cotton, leaving the index and pinky fingers empty.
-
8
Sew the open part of the glove closed to finish the dog's head.
-
9
Pin the head to the body and sew them together. Sew or glue buttons to the head for the eyes and nose.
