You can have baked potatoes ready in a matter of minutes using this quilted baking potato bag. Making baked potatoes in the microwave gives you problematic and uncertain results. You can make this all-cotton baking bag with some basic sewing knowledge and a few tools of the trade.

  • Cotton quilted fabric
  • Cotton muslin
  • Cotton batting
  • Scissors
  • Cotton thread

Instructions

      Lay out the quilted fabric on a flat surface. Cut one piece of fabric 10 inches wide by 22 inches long. Lay out the batting and cut one piece the same size. Lay out the muslin and cut out the same size.

      Place the right side of the quilted piece on the right side of the muslin and place the batting on top. Pin across one 10-inch end and stitch a ½-inch seam along this end. Repeat this on the other 10-inch end. Turn the piece right side out and topstitch ¼ inch from the edge at both ends.

      Place the bag on a table with the inside facing up. Fold one end up to 2 inches from the top edge. Fold the 2-inch flap over and pin it into place. Pin through the first two layers of the bag only.

      Turn the bag inside out. Pin the sides together with the 2-inch flat to the inside and the other edge of the fabric even with the fold.

      Stitch the two sides with a ½-inch seam allowance. Turn the bag right side out and fold the flap down to close it.
