How to Do the Love Emotion on Facebook
Facebook provides two messaging options for users to keep in touch with each other -- live chat and private messages -- and both options support emoticons. Emoticons are icons created with text characters that represent emotions and, in Facebook's case, these emoticons are automatically transformed into actual graphics when you send them. If you want to send a love emoticon to another Facebook user, you can do so in just a few steps.

Type the following two characters right next to each other: <3. This looks like a heart turned sideways.

Press "Enter" to send the chat message or click "Send" to send your private message. The emoticon will instantly be transformed into a graphical red heart.
