How to Make Mummies as an Activity for KIds
While many people think of mummies as wrapped in trailing strips of cloth, real mummies were very tightly bound with well-secured cloth. You can make a mummy that approximates this look out of a plastic doll and toilet paper. The craft is simple enough that children old enough to hold and wrap toilet paper can participate. The use of a water spray bottle makes the craft that much more fun for kids without causing much of a mess.

1
Wrap the doll tightly in a layer or two of toilet paper.
-
2
Spray the toilet paper lightly with water.

-
3
Add further layers of toilet paper, spraying after every layer or two to condense the toilet paper and help it conform more tightly to the doll's body. Handle the doll gently in order to keep from tearing the paper.

Continue layering and spraying until the mummy achieves the desired look. Once the paper dries, the mummy should end up with a fairly homogeneous casing instead of the stereotypical winding strips.
