Origami Griffin Instructions
If you're a fan of origami -- and mythical creatures -- you'll enjoy this project, which shows you how to build a griffin out of paper. Griffins had the head and wings of an eagle, but the body of a lion, according to ancient myth. These can make fun decorations at costume parties, gaming nights or fantasy writing get-togethers. This project is also a great way to build your origami skills if you're still a novice.

1
Begin with a square piece of origami paper. Fold it in half diagonally, and fold it again across the other diagonal.
-
2
Fold back the top layer and bring up the other corners, one by one, and push them toward the center to create a pyramid base. Grasp one of the sides, about halfway up, and slide it downward. When it's about halfway to the table, turn the corner and fold it down. Bring that corner back up, and then down again. Repeat this for the other corners.

3
Bring all four legs up at the same time, gradually, and pull one leg outward. Fold in and then out to the right. Repeat for the rest of the legs. Push the legs downward and in toward the center.
-
4
Fold each of the front legs upward, and then down, making what looks like a mountain peak fold. Make crimps down each leg. For the rear legs, bring them up and then down to make peaks, but don't crimp -- this will keep the griffin's weight forward.
-
5
Fold the head (the part between the front legs) in toward the middle and then fold it upward. Add a crimp for the beak. Bring the back corner down for the tail.
