Instructions

    • 1

Cover the inside of the shoebox with patterned paper to act as wallpaper for the baby's room. Soft colors such as pastels or neutral colors such as cream or white are appropriate for a nursery.

    • 2

Cover the outside of the shoebox with wood-style contact paper. Cut a 1-inch by 2-inch flap on one side panel of the shoebox to act as the bedroom door. Fold it back to "open" the door. You may attach a small doorknob with an old toothpaste cap or a bead.

    • 3

Measure a piece of felt large enough to cover the "floor" of the shoebox. Cut it out and glue it in place with white glue.

    • 4

Use construction paper to cover a box to act as the baby's crib. Cut off one panel and cover the inside and outside with contact paper. Glue cotton balls into the bottom of the box. Cover the cotton balls with a piece of felt to act as the baby's comforter.

    • 5

Cover the other boxes to create a dresser, nightstand, and rocking chair for the nursery. Get creative with your designs. Use crayons and markers to create drawers, patterns, and other decor.

    • 6

Wrap felt around single cotton balls and secure with glue to create small throw pillows.

    • 7

Move the furniture around the shoebox until you're happy with the placement. Glue the pieces of furniture in place with white glue. You may also opt to keep the furniture loose so that later, it may be arranged differently.
