How to Take Off a Facebook Layout

Facebook does not offer profile customization beyond the public information you provide about yourself and a profile picture. However, some Facebook applications allow you to place backgrounds, called layouts, on your profile page. These layouts convert the white space that is on either side of your profile information to images such as photos, artwork and various colors. When you no longer want to use a layout, you can remove the application from your account.

Instructions

1. Click the "Account" link in the top right corner of the screen in your Facebook account. Select "Account Settings" from the menu.

2. Select "Applications" from the menu on the left side of the screen.

3. Locate the application you used to make the layout in the list of applications. Click the "X" next to the application.

4. Click the "Remove" button in the warning box that pops up to take the Facebook layout off. Your profile will return to normal as soon as you remove the application.
