How to Flatten a Curled Up Rug

Flatten curled edges before placing a rug out for use.

Most modern rugs are equipped with a stiff backing that prevents fraying, blocks spills and holds the carpet in place. When a carpet is bundled and stored in a roll, this backing can develop a strong material memory, causing the edges of the rug to curl up long after it has been opened for use. Because these curled edges can damage the carpet over time and also pose a risk for injury, it's critical to address rolled edges as soon as possible. Flattening your rug will ensure that the carpet wears evenly and prevents the tripping hazards associated with curled edges. Does this Spark an idea?
