Create a key chain that suits your tastes.

A key chain's main function is to hold your keys but it can also be a decorative reflection of you. Show off your personality and your own brand of style by making your own custom key chain to hold your keys and small trinkets that represent you in some way. Much like a charm bracelet, you can add to the key chain over time to build and display your collection of trinkets and mementos.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 4-inch piece of 16 gauge wire stock with wire cutters.

    • 2

Bend one end of the wire stock into a closed loop with needle-nose pliers. Bend only the very end, using only enough wire to make a small loop.

    • 3

Slide jump rings onto the straight end of the wire stock. Slide on one jump ring for each trinket you plan to add to the key chain.

    • 4

Bend the entire length of wire into a circle with the needle-nose pliers. Slide the straight wire end through the loop and bend it into a loop around the first loop to secure the ring together.

    • 5

Pull open each jump ring individually with the needle-nose pliers and string a trinket on each. Close the jump rings by squeezing the ends back together with the pliers.
