How to Center an Avery Label

How to Center an Avery Label thumbnail
A label that's easy to read and neatly centered can help postal workers deliver your package on time.

Printing, peeling and sticking Avery labels on folders, envelopes or other office documents is fairly straightforward. Centering those labels is another matter. For your project to look professional, the label needs to be centered so it won't look crooked or out of place. Take the extra time necessary to measure the dimensions of whatever you're labeling so you can center the label precisely. Whether you're mailing an important proposal or just organizing a file folder, a centered label can give your work a polish that sets it apart from the competition.

Instructions

    • 1

Print your labels according to your software's instructions. Ensure the text is neatly printed and not trailing off the edge of the label.

    • 2

Measure the height and width of your envelope, binder or folder. Use a pencil to mark the halfway point between each measurement so you have a dot in the middle of the envelope, folder or other product you are labeling.

    • 3

Measure your label's height and width. Draw a horizontal line half the length of the label's width out from the dot. Repeat for a horizontal line going the other direction.

    • 4

Draw a vertical line half the length of the label's height out from the dot. Repeat for a vertical line going the other direction.

    • 5

Place the label carefully on your product, using the dot and lines as a guide.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not load more than one sheet of labels in the printer at a time, as too many can cause a paper jam.
