How to Get a Photo Layout in Facebook

You can get a photo layout on the top of your Facebook Profile by tagging yourself in photos. You can have up to five photos at a time in the layout. These photos do not have to be of yourself to tag them. In fact, you can create a stunning mural using this feature by using a photo editing or graphics program to cut a mural into five pieces and then tagging those pieces with your own name. When creating a mural with the layout, keep in mind that each new photo is placed on the left of the layout with the oldest photo being on the right.

Instructions

  1. Creating a Basic Photo Layout

    • 1

Find five photographs you would like to showcase in your photo layout. If the photos are not in one of your Facebook albums already, upload them to Facebook. You can do this by clicking the "Photo" link above the "What's on your mind?" text box on your home page.

    • 2

Go to your Facebook Profile and click "Photos" in the left menu. This will list your photo albums. Click on any album and find a picture of yourself. Click on it.

    • 3

Click "Tag This Photo" at the bottom left of the page beneath the photo.

    • 4

Click on yourself on the photo. If you're not actually in the photo, click anywhere. A box appears on the photo. Begin typing your name in the text field beneath the box. Your name will soon appear beneath the text field. Click on your name.

    • 5

Tag at least five photos. They will appear in the photo layout at the top of your Facebook Profile.

    Customizing a Photo Layout Mural

    • 6

Open a photograph in an image editing program like Photoshop, Microsoft Paint or Gimp.

    • 7

Crop the image so that it is 485 pixels wide by 68 pixels high. You will be dividing this into five pieces so that when they are uploaded they will look like a mural in your Facebook photo layout.

    • 8

Select the last fifth of the image and cut it. Open a new image window and paste it in, creating an image that is 97 pixels by 68 pixels in size. Save the image as "photo1.jpg."

    • 9

Cut the remaining photo into four more pieces, each 97 by 68 pixels in size, working right to left and naming them "photo2.jpg," "photo3.jpg" and so forth so that you have five images.

    • 10

Upload the images and then tag them using the steps in the above Section. Begin with "photo1.jpg." By doing them in this order, the images will be in the proper alignment in your photo layout.

Tips & Warnings

  • If any of your friends tag you in a photo, it will appear in your photo layout. Remove unwanted photos from your layout by clicking the "x" on the top left corner of the photo.
