How to Add Color to Facebook Posts

By default, your Facebook posts have a white or light blue background, but you can change this to another shade of your choice using a Firefox add-on. An add-on is a mini application you install on your Firefox browser; an add-on for Facebook gives you the tools to alter the presentation of how Facebook appears to you in your own browser window. Using the add-on of your choice you can color your Facebook posts to create the view you desire.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Firefox Web browser and click the "Add-ons" option under the "Firefox" menu. This action brings you to the "Add-ons Manager" window.

    • 2

Click the "Get Add-ons" title on the left and then type "Facebook" in the search field on top. Click the magnifying glass to bring up the relevant results.

    • 3

Review the add-ons to find the feature you want to use to color Facebook posts. FaceTweak, for instance, allows you to style your entries using themes, such as Hello Kitty and The Simpsons, while Better Facebook enables you to choose a "skin" that decorates your layout and enhances your posts according to the design you pick.

    • 4

Click the "Install" button next to the title you prefer and then follow the prompts to restart Firefox.

    • 5

Click the "Firefox" menu, click "Add-ons" and select the add-on name to launch the dialog window that enables you to color your Facebook posts. Each add-on varies slightly. Using FaceTweak, for example, click the "Styles" tab, click the box next to a theme you want to use and then click the "OK" button to apply it to your Facebook layout.

Tips & Warnings

  • To get more information about using your particular add-on, click "Add-ons" under the Firefox "Firefox" menu, click the "Extension" link on the left and then click the "More" link next to your add-on title. Read through the information that automatically appears on the page or click the add-on's URL link to go directly to the homepage.

  • If you do not see the color applied to your Facebook posts, refresh your browser window.

  • The colored posts are only visible to you and not the people who visit your Facebook page.
