Because stone pavers are outdoors, they are subject to a lot of wear and tear, dirt, grime, oil and other debris. Methods of cleaning stone pavers vary depending on the material of the stone. Things You'll Need

  • Bucket or pail
  • Broom
  • Long handled stiff bristle brush
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Garden hose (optional)

      Fill a bucket or pail with water, hot or cold. Toss the water on all areas of the stone pavers to get rid of any surface debris.

      Sweep the stone pavers with a large broom. This removes weeds, grass or dust that remains on the pavers.

      Fill the bucket with clean water. Add 1-2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid. Read the label to make certain the product is acid-free.

      Pour the soapy water on the stone pavers.

      Scrub the pavers with a long-handled stiff bristle brush. Scrub all areas of the stone pavers once or twice to completely clean the flooring.

      Fill a bucket or pail with clean water and rinse off the stone pavers. A garden hose also works for rinsing away the soapy water, dirt and grime.
