How to Make a Bill-Paying Template
Keeping track of when monthly bills are due is often time-consuming and cumbersome, especially when you pay multiple bills. Setting up a basic template using a spreadsheet or word processor program helps you to keep track of due dates, balances and your personal budget. It's easy to create a bill-paying template using a computer program or simply on paper.

1
Organize all of your monthly bill payments together. Keep bills in a separate container or drawer away from other mail. Flag e-mails from "paperless" bills in your inbox or print them out.

2
Open the Excel program on your computer. Begin labeling the columns you need. At the minimum, your template should contain a column for the bill type and biller's name, the amount due and the due date. In addition to these columns, a column for "balance" can be included for bills such as credit cards.

Input all the information in each column. Use the "sum" function to total the amount due column at the next empty row. This will provide you with the total amount you owe for each month.

Tips & Warnings
If you prefer not to use an Excel spreadsheet, you can create a similar template using a word processor. Do not fill out the information in the columns. Print out "blank" templates and fill them in with a pen or pencil each month. Use a calculator to compute the total due.
