How to Add Lavender to Your Vacuum Cleaner

Add lavender oil to your vacuum cleaner bag to release its fresh fragrance.

For thousands of years, people have used lavender flowers and essential oils for aromatherapy. Lavender has a light, fresh scent known to produce calming effects, relieve anxiety and induce sleep. Lavender essential oil or granules added to a vacuum cleaner bag will diffuse the fragrance throughout the home when you sweep. You can purchase lavender essential oil from health food and perfume stores.

Things You'll Need

• Lavender essential oil or granules
• Cotton ball

Instructions

1. Place five drops of lavender essential oil onto a cotton ball, or measure out 1 tablespoon of lavender granules.

2. Add the cotton ball to a vacuum cleaner dust bag, against the vacuum cleaner's air filter. If you are using granules, simply pour the granules into the vacuum cleaner bag.

3. Turn on the vacuum to distribute the scent throughout your home.

4. Replace the cotton ball or granules when the scent loses its potency.
