How to Get the Install Key From RHEL5

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL5) is a server operating system primarily used with corporations for their computer networks. If you have the RHEL5 operating system and you would like to update the packages or use the full features, you need to purchase an installation key. This 16-digit number is used to unlock the operating system. Red Hat uses a subscription-based purchase for their software. You can buy a one- or three-year subscription to use the server operating system from its Web site.

Instructions

1. Open your Web browser.

2. Go to the "Red Hat Enterprise Linux" Web site.

3. Create a Red Hat account for the Red Hat store or log into your account from the "Register" or "Log In" icons.

4. Click on the "Add to cart" icon next to the subscription that you want.

5. Enter your credit card information into the fields that appear on the screen and then click "OK."

6. Enter your e-mail into the field that appears and click "OK." Click the "Checkout Now" button to complete the transaction.

7. Log into your e-mail account and copy the 16-digit number from the email. Enter the number into the install key prompt on your operating system, and click "OK" to authorize the software.
