How to Make an Emotional Guy Commit

Don't be fooled by physical attention. A kiss does not mean a man is ready to commit.

Getting men to commit to a serious relationship is an age-old problem that has plagued women for centuries. Yet if you're lucky enough to be dating an emotional guy, you'll likely have an easier time closing the deal. Emotional men are often more interested in finding a woman they can trust and open up to rather than dating as many women as possible. If you've snagged an emotional man and want him to commit, give him plenty of love and develop the relationship, but ultimately keep the focus on being the best person you can be.

1. Focus on reaching your potential and being an engaging, positive and independent woman. Explore your interests and live a full life with or without your significant other. If he's available to join you, consider it a bonus. If not, you'll have a blast discovering life on your own.

2. Look pretty and presentable at all times. Don't stress about being model material, but be a woman he'll be proud to introduce to his friends, family and colleagues at any moment of the day.

3. Show an interest in him as a person, not just as a provider or means for security. Ask him thought-provoking questions that show you're curious about his background and unique personality. He'll treasure the listening ear and feeling of connection and will want to preserve it.

4. Practice patience. Men generally need more time to commit to a relationship than women, so give him space to make up his mind.

5. Keep tabs on how the relationship is progressing. The two of you should continually be growing in your understanding of and appreciation for each other. Don't let the relationship stall or stagnate.

6. Communicate your need for a commitment in a pleasant, nonthreatening manner. Lovingly tell him you care about him and want to continue to develop a relationship with him, but you need to know now rather than later whether he is interested for the long-term.

7. Issue a respectful ultimatum. Be forthcoming if your man is stalling in making a commitment. Although you may fear losing him, it's not always wise to continue to invest in a relationship with no guarantee.
