How to Crochet Mesh Scrubbies

Tulle is a fine mesh netting with a rough texture. When cut into strips and crocheted, it becomes an effective scrubber for dishes or other cleaning. Choose the finest mesh tulle you can find to make a scrubber for rough skin, such as your elbows or heels. A coarser mesh makes a scrubber for tough stains on pots and pans.

Instructions

Cut 1/2 yard of tulle netting into 2-inch strips. Tie all the strips together to make one long, narrow piece of tulle. Roll the tulle strip into a ball. This is your tulle yarn for crocheting a scrubber.

Use a size J crochet hook to make 3 chain stitches. Slip stitch into the first chain to make a circle. For a tighter scrubber, use a smaller hook. As small as size G will work.

Crochet two single crochet stitches in each stitch around. To single crochet, insert the hook into the first stitch, yarn over and pull the tulle through the stitch. Yarn over again and pull that loop through both of the loops already on the hook. Continue to single crochet twice in each stitch, around and around until the scrubber is the desired size.
