Wonderware Troubleshooting

Wonderware is an Input Output software package for industrial automation. The Wonderware software package is manufactured by Invensys Operations Management in the United Kingdom. If you are having problems with your Wonderware software, there are several things to check before you call in a software engineer. The most common issues include loose wiring, cables that are too long, the COM port and the COM port speed. The COM port is where the Wonderware software receives and exports signals from the automation hardware.

Check the cable on your Programmable Logic Controller. Make sure the wiring is correct. Look for any shorts, broken wires, crossed wiring or loose wiring. Use a soldering iron to reconnect the wires if you are familiar with the wiring or have access to the wiring diagram. Consult a professional if you do not feel comfortable reconnecting the wires.

Make sure you're running the "Microsoft Windows For Workgroups" software on your system. If you aren't running the software, load it on your system to get the Wonderware software to work properly. This software comes preinstalled on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. You will need to install the software if you are using Windows 95, 98 or 2000.
