How to Troubleshoot the Temperature Control on a GE PSS25MGNA

The GE PSS25MGNA is a side-by-side refrigerator that is no longer actively produced by GE. The refrigerator has sliding shelves, a temperature management system, fast cool setting and an electronic control panel for temperature settings and ice and water dispensing. If you are having problems with the temperature controls but cannot find a user manual for the refrigerator, follow a few troubleshooting methods to solve the problem. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Press "Colder" under "Adjust Freezer Temp" or "Adjust Refrigerator Temp" if the temperature control shows "0" for either the freezer or refrigerator. This indicates that there is power to the unit but no cooling.

    • 2

Adjust the controls up or down to set the temperature to a warmer or colder setting depending upon preferred internal temperatures. The preset setting for both compartments is 5. Allow 24 hours or more after changing the temperature setting for the actual temperature in the freezer or refrigerator compartment to change. Keep the doors closed as much as possible during this time for better temperature control.

    • 3

Remove the plastic film over the control panel if the controls do not seem to work. The film is set over the controls at the factory and should be removed before use.

    • 4

Unplug the GE refrigerator if the controls will not change or are not working. Wait 30 seconds before reconnecting power. This should reset the refrigerator control panel.
