How to Make Plastic Frames for Beehives
The beehive is an iconoclastic hairstyle popularized in the 1960s and perfected by the likes of Audrey Hepburn in the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." A return to vintage fashions has seen a revival of the beehive, most notably by the late Amy Winehouse and cartoon housewife Marge Simpson. The beehive is not an easy style to perfect. A plastic frame for your beehive, however, will help support it to keep it in place. Plastic frames enable you to use less hair and support bigger beehives. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Decide how big you want your beehive to be. Of course, the beehive can only be as long as your hair, so make allowances for individual length. Use the scissors to cut the end off one of the stocking legs. Make it the same length as your beehive will be high.

2
Scrunch up the plastic shopping bags. Stuff them into the nylon stocking. Use as many bags as will make your stocking wide enough for your beehive. Remember that the plastic frame is only in the center and, with your hair on the outside, the beehive will be much bigger than the plastic frame.

Knot the nylon stocking off once you have the plastic frame as long and wide as you would like it to be. Leave at least 2 inches of stocking after the knot. Use the bobby pins to secure the frame to the top of your head. Use the bit of stocking after the knot to secure it to your crown. You can also stick bobby pins though the nylon stocking all the way around the base of your frame.

Back-comb your hair and then smooth it up the length of your plastic beehive frame, pinning it through the nylon with bobby pins as you go.

Tips & Warnings
Curling your hair and adding hair products will help you achieve the volume you need for a successful beehive.
Wash your hair a couple of days before the beehive styling as clean hair is too soft to work with.
Should you wish to keep your beehive for more than one day, wrap it in a silk scarf before you go to bed.
