No matter whether you are in sneakers, boots or flats, when socks fall down it can be a big headache. Uncomfortable at first, socks that slack off can lead to redness and chaffing on your ankles if the socks are not pulled up constantly. Several methods are available, however, to help keep your socks at their proper height and prevent the dreaded "sock slouch." Does this Spark an idea?

      Fold your socks at the top. Sometimes the simplest remedy is the best, and folding the top of your socks down by a quarter or half-inch (depending on how big your socks are) will be enough to keep them in position.

      Use a large rubber band to secure the socks against your ankle, and then fold the socks down to hide the rubber band. Girl Scouts often use this technique, but it is important to make sure the rubber band isn't too tight so you don't cut off circulation.

      Purchase garters. Sock garters may seem like a relic of a bygone era, but if you are wearing a dress or slacks, you can still use them to keep your socks on. Most department stores still carry sock garters, and they are simple to put on. Simply connect one end to your socks, and then buckle them against your calves

      Use sock adhesive. Though you may have never heard of sock glue before, it is a product often used by dancers to keep their heavy socks up during routines. This product generally comes in stick form, and can be applied directly to your skin. Then simply pull the sock up, wait a moment, and your socks will stay stuck on the spot. The glue isn't overly sticky, either, and some simple pressure when taking off your socks should release them from the adhesive's hold without any "ouchies."
