Instructions

    • 1

Fold the edge of the veil over by 1/4 inch and press the fold with an iron to keep it in place. Repeat the fold and press in place again so the raw edges of the veil fabric are hidden within the fold.

    • 2

Switch the regular presser foot on your sewing machine for a rolled hem foot. Position the folded edge of the veil under the rolled hem foot, with the outside edge of the fold lined up directly below the right edge of the rolled portion of the foot.

    • 3

Lower the foot and insert needle into the fabric to make three anchor stitches. Do not allow the edge of the veil to travel under the foot to the right of the scrolled portion, keep the fabric straight and in line.

    • 4

Lift the inside folded edge of the veil with the point of a seam ripper and guide the lifted portion into the round, scrolled area of the foot. The left side of the foot will be sandwiched between the lower length of the veil fabric and the upper folded portion in the scroll.

    • 5

Sew a straight stitch all along the edge of the veil, keeping the folded edge within the scroll. Work slowly to avoid the fold slipping out of the scroll. Keep sewing until you reach the beginning of the stitching and the edge is entirely rolled and sewn.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take the veil out of the sewing machine and reinsert it if the edge comes out of the scroll. This will yield better looking results than if you try to keep the veil in place and work the edge back into the scroll.

  • Do not try to push through large amounts of fabric through the rolled hem foot or the fabric will get jammed and you could damage the fabric and your machine.
