How to Make a Square Braid Friendship Bracelet
Friendship bracelets are jewelry woven together using colorful floss string, then tied onto the wrist of a friend. Whenever the friend looks down and sees the bracelet she was given, she is reminded of the friend who made it for her. A square braid friendship bracelet uses five pieces of looped string, with the loops woven through each other to create a bracelet that has four flat, equally wide sides.

1
Fold each cord in half, then hold all 10 loose ends together in one hand. Make a loop with all 10 strands, then pass the loose ends through the loop and pull to tighten the knot. You are left with five loops hanging down. The loop should be several inches from the ends of the strings.
-
2
Hook the leftmost loop on your left index finger, the next left on your left middle finger, and the middle loop on your left ring finger.
-
-
3
Hook the rightmost loop on your right middle finger, and the second right loop on your right ring finger.
-
4
Reach your right index finger through both loops on your right hand and grab the right side of the loop on your left ring finger. Pull your index finger back, pulling the loop off your ring finger and through the other two loops on your right hand.
-
5
Hook the loop on your left middle finger with your left ring finger, then pull it off the middle finger. Hook the loop on your left index finger with your left middle finger, then pull it off the index finger. Your hands are now the opposite as where you started, with two loops on your left hand and three on your right.
-
6
Repeat the stitch in reverse, reaching through the remaining two loops on your left hand with your left index finger, hooking the nearest right loop and pulling it through, then moving the remaining right hand loops over one finger.
-
7
Continue braiding by reaching the free index finger through to grab a loop and moving the loops on the second hand down one finger, until you have a braid of your desired length.
-
8
Grab all five loops together and tie a knot, as you did with the 10 loose ends.
-
9
Make a second knot with the looped ends, but do not pull it tight.
-
10
Pass the 10 loose ends through the loose knot, then pull the knot tight.
-
11
Form a loop with the 10 loose ends around the five loops, between the two knots tied in the five loops. Pass the loose ends through the loop and pull tight. You now have a second knot in each end of the bracelet, with the strands passing through the knot in the loops, and the loops passing through the knot in the strands.
-
12
Grab the second knot in each end, then pull your hands apart to spread the bracelet to fit over your hand; pull on the loose strands and loops to tighten the bracelet on the wrist.
