Instructions

    • 1

Cut your black construction paper into spider web-sized sheets. You might need to take scissors with you outside when collecting webs so you can size them up and cut your paper accordingly.

    • 2

Place the construction paper inside the box and spray it thoroughly with aerosol hair spray.

    • 3

Hold the box up behind the spider's web with the open side pointing toward you, so you can see the construction paper. Check that a spider is not present and spray the web with gold or silver paint.

    • 4

Pull the box toward you, through the spider web, until it is clearly stuck onto the sheet of construction paper. Do not tear away the web with your sweeping motion, rather sever its ties to other pieces of vegetation using your spare hand.

    • 5

Spray over the top of the web with clear varnish until you have a clear covering.

    • 6

Leave your box with the web in to dry for at least 24 hours before removing the construction paper and web to get it ready for presentation.

Tips & Warnings

  • It might take a few attempts before you develop the technique of catching spider webs.

  • Always exercise caution when using aerosol and spray products. Read the health and safety warnings and instructions on the product.
