Crown molding is the decoratively shaped wood that is used at the top of walls, cabinets or on pilasters. It is typically made in a factory or by a carpenter using a wood shaper. The large routing tables allow wood boards to be fed through a shaping blade that removes the unnecessary material leaving a beautifully shaped molding. Instructions

    • 1

      Disconnect the power to the machine at the source. This may be unplugging it from the wall outlet or turning off the breaker at the electrical distribution panel. Double-check the power is off by trying to turn on the machine.

      Lock the main drive shaft by pulling the rotating the mechanism in the bottom of the shaft located by the drive belt.

      Insert the cutter head on the spindle being careful to install the shaper cutter in the correct direction. The leading edge of the cutting blade must face the direct of rotation.

      Slide the correct amount of stacking collars on top of the blade to allow the blade to be tightened by the bolt on top.

      Insert the washer on top and tighten the spindle nut on the spindle. Tighten the bolt very tightly with a wrench.

      Unlock the main drive shaft, reversing the process used to lock it in place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Double-check the bolt tightness to be certain the cutter is tightly fastened.
