How to Have Browser History Deleted When Exiting the Web Browser?

If you use public computers or share them with others, you may want to protect your privacy by clearing your browser history. Although you can do this manually or save history items only for a preset time period, you can also instruct your browser to delete history when you exit the program. This method does not require you to remember to delete history.

Instructions

Firefox

1. Open the Tools menu and click "Options."

2. Click the "Privacy" tab and select "Use Custom Settings" from the drop-down menu.

3. Click to place a check mark next to "Clear History When Firefox Closes." Click the "Ok" button.

Internet Explorer

1. Click the settings icon, which features a gear and select "Internet Options."

2. Click to add a check mark next to "Delete browsing history on exit" in the History section.

3. Click "Apply" and then click "Ok."
