How to Embed Facebook Gadgets
Whether it's a Facebook "Like Box," a "Like Button" or some other type of Facebook gadget, it can pay off to embed one of them on your website or blog. Not only does it give people more ways to connect with you, it can also give your blog or website a more professional, polished look. As long as you know a bit about how your blog or website's content management system is structured, you should be able to embed such gadgets with little hassle.
Instructions
-
-
1
Log into Facebook with your user name and password.
-
2
Navigate to the page you want to promote using a Facebook gadget. Copy the URL for the page from the browser window.
-
-
3
Navigate to the Facebook developers' "Like Button" or "Like Box" page, depending on your preference.
-
4
Paste the URL for the page you want to promote into the URL box at the top of the "Like Button" or "Like Box" page. Adjust the width, color scheme and other selections to your preferences, then click "Get Code" at the bottom of the page.
-
5
Copy the HTML code that appears on the page.
-
6
Navigate to the content management system for your website or blog, and open the page where you want your gadget to appear. Be sure the page is displaying in "HTML" or "Source Code" format and not in "Visual" format.
-
7
Place your cursor on the part of the page where you want your gadget to appear, then click "Paste." As you do this, be sure you don't place your cursor in the middle of any other lines of HTML code, as this may interrupt other formatting on your page.
-
8
Click "Save" or "Save Changes" before you navigate away from the page.
-
9
Navigate to the website or blog from outside the content management system -- the view others see when they visit your website or blog -- to check that the gadget appears as you want it to appear.
