How to Connect With Google for the Live Chat App
Individuals with a Google Account have access to many different free products that Google distributes and support, including Gmail and Google Docs. However, you may not know that your Google Account also includes access to Google Talk, which is a live chat application that allows you to communicate with other Google users. You can download the Google Talk application for free, and use it to communicate with your contacts whenever you need a quick response to a question and aren't able to talk over the phone.

Open a browser window, and navigate to the Google Talk download page at Google.com.

Click the blue "Download Google Talk" button at the right side of the window, and save the file to your computer.

Double-click the downloaded Google Talk installation file, then click "Run" to begin your installation."

Click "I Agree" to accept the Google Talk terms, and click the "Finish" button once the installation has completed.

Launch Google Talk.

Type your Google Account email address into the "Username" field, type your password into the "Password" field, and click "Sign In." You can communicate with your Google contacts by clicking their name from the list of Google Talk contacts, then typing the message that you wish to send.

You can also install a video and voice plug in for Google Talk that allows you to video chat with other Google Talk users, provided that both of you have a webcam and microphone installed on your computer.
