A player boots up "Grand Theft Auto IV" on its release date.

Seasoned "Grand Theft Auto" players know the best way to get a cop car in the game is to do what you to best -- cause mayhem. Stealing a car, shooting out a store window or mugging a pedestrian will get the fuzz all over you in "Grand Theft Auto IV," but if you want them to drive a Ford Crown Victoria, which you can in turn steal and drive off in, you will need a special patch.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install the SparkIV modification software available at GTA Gaming. SparkIV allows you to make changes to your installation of "Grand Theft Auto IV." It also allows you to reverse any changes you have made at any time.

    • 2

Download the Ford Crown Victoria mod for "Grand Theft Auto IV" from Softpedia.

    • 3

Hit "Open" from SparkIV's main menu and select the "vehicles.img" file. Opening vehicles.img shows you all the cars currently available in your installation of "Grand Theft Auto IV."

    • 4

Click "Export All" to send the list of game's existing vehicles to a folder of your choice. Drag the Crown Victoria mod into the folder where you exported vehicles.img.

    • 5

Select "Import" from SparkIV's main menu to import the contents of the folder back into the vehicles.img file. The Crown Victoria will now replace regular cop cars in the game.

Tips & Warnings

  • Firing your weapon will attract the police when you want to get a hold of your newly installed Crown Victoria, but it will also earn you a three star crime rating.
