      Remove any thread or rough spots from the underside of the button.

      Lay the button face down on the work surface.

      Apply a small bead of hot glue to the flat surface of an earring post. The bead should be roughly the size of a peppercorn.

      Press the earring post, glue side down, onto the back of the button. Allow the glue to cool and set for one to two minutes.

      Slide the back of the earring -- the fixture that holds an earring on an ear -- onto the post.
