How to Fix Ripped Ballet Tights
In the midst of a ballet performance or class, things happen. Dancers jump, leap, twirl, sweat and sometimes rip their tights. If you happen to look down and discover a run, rip or tear in your tights, there's a quick and simple method for controlling the damage. It won't mend the rip, but it will allow you to continue dancing without worry until you can replace the tights with a fresh new pair.

1
Wait for a break in your lesson or performance before you attend to your ripped tights. It's considered impolite to disrupt a ballet lesson so, although the matter seems pressing, hold out.
-
2
Keep the tights on and find the place where they have ripped. This method won't work if you take the tights off.

3
Spread a thin layer of clear nail polish over the tear in your tights to keep them from ripping further. Only one coat is necessary and it should dry in minutes.
-
4
Spray the nail polish covered area one time over with holding hair spray. A light coating will harden both the clear nail polish and the fabric of your tights so that the tights don't begin to unravel.

Tips & Warnings
It's a good idea to carry an extra pair of tights with you just in case. A dancer's appearance should always be neat and poised.
