How to Make a Children's Batman Utility Belt

A Batman children's costume would not be complete without the utility belt. Batman's belt holds all of his gadgets that allow him to do incredible stunts and amazing feats. You can create a replica of this belt for a child's costume by attaching toy gadgets to a canvas belt. Batman's belt was yellow in the comic book version of the story, and later became gold in the feature film version of the tale. Choose the color you want to paint the belt based on which version of the Batman character your child is more familiar with.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the hot glue gun, so the glue will be ready when you need to use it.

    • 2

Put the belt on your child, and use the marker to mark each side of your child's waist on the belt. Mark where the belt goes through the buckle. A belt with a sliding clasp works best for this costume.

    • 3

Lay the belt out with the slide buckle facing upward.

    • 4

Arrange the gadgets on the belt until you fit them on the front and sides of the belt. Do not place any of the toy gadgets past the line you marked where the belt goes through the buckle.

    • 5

Glue the toy gadgets onto the belt using the hot glue gun.

    • 6

Lay the belt on a piece of newspaper, and spray it with the spray paint. Read the directions on the can for guidelines on how far away to hold the paint can from the belt.

    • 7

Use the paint brush and black acrylic paint to paint the Batman emblem onto the belt buckle.
