How to Make a Friendship Bracelet With a Strip Down the Middle
A cobra knot is a type of knot that is tied around a central strip that is then hidden by knots. Cobra knots can be tied using plastic lacing and hemp. Friendship bracelets utilize many different types of knots. The cobra knot is one of the most popular, along with square knots and half square knots. The width of the bracelet made using cobra knots can be increased by doubling or tripling all three strands.

3
Pick up the thread closest to your right hand, and loop it over the middle strand. Lay the strand down in this position.

Pick up the left strand and put it over the looped right strand, under the middle strand and back up through the loop. Pull both of the longer strands until the knot is tight.

Make another loop and repeat with the same strand, only this time on your left side. Continue tying knots in this pattern until you have between one and two inches of thread left.
-
6
Tie an overhand knot with all three strands. Tie the bracelet around your arm to secure.
