How to Make a Life-Size Papercraft
Whether you want to create a replica of yourself or someone you admire, or you are an educator who is engaging children in an "all-about-me" unit, creating a life-sized image from paper is a simple craft project. For this craft, you'll need some butcher paper, a few basic craft materials and a little help from another person. Use the life-sized paper craft as a decoration or give it as a gift.
Things You'll Need
- White butcher paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Crayons or markers
- Yarn
- Glue
- Pieces of fabric
Instructions

1
Spread a length of butcher paper on the ground. Lay on top of the paper in the position that you want the life-sized cut out to come out in.
-
2
Ask someone to trace the outline of your body onto the butcher paper with a pencil. Instruct the person doing the tracing to trace your entire body, from head to feet.
-
-
3
Stand up and cut out the traced image of your body.
-
4
Place the image on a flat surface. Use markers or crayons to decorate the image to represent the person you want the craft to look like. If the craft is meant to resemble you, add features that resemble yours. If the craft is meant to look like someone else, draw features and articles of clothing that resemble the person whom you are replicating.
-
5
Cut several lengths of yarn in a color that matches the hair color of the person the craft is meant to look like. For example, if the paper craft is meant to look like someone with blonde hair, cut yellow pieces of yarn or if the craft is meant to resemble someone with brown hair, cut lengths of brown yarn. Cut long pieces of yarn for long hair and short pieces of yarn for short hair.
-
6
Glue the yarn onto the head of the cut-out image, creating the look of hair.
-
7
Cut pieces of fabric to resemble articles of clothing; shirts, shorts, pants or a skirt, for example. Glue the fabric to the appropriate places on the cut-out paper body.
