How to Make a Wicca Necklace

Make a one-of-a-kind Wicca necklace by applying images of your choice to wood scrabble tiles. This is a versatile technique, allowing you to add any image printed on paper to a necklace pendant. You can decoupage all types of Wiccan symbols including a pentacle, goddess, triskele or triple moon to create your own custom necklace. Using minimal supplies and very little time, you can create one Wiccan pendant to hang on necklaces or a variety to add to a charm necklace.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate an image to use to create your necklace. Options include pre-printed papers with Wiccan symbols such as pentacles or Goddesses, or downloaded clipart images of Wiccan symbols. Choose a size that will fit the size of a wood scrabble tile, about 3/4 inche long by 1/2 inch wide. For downloaded images, print the image on plain printer paper.

    • 2

Place the wood scrabble tile onto your image and trace around the tile using a pencil.

    • 3

Cut your image around the traced outline using scissors.

    • 4

Place a piece of wax paper on your surface to protect your furniture when working.

    • 5

Brush a thin layer of decoupage medium onto the bottom of the scrabble tile, opposite the side with the pre-printed letter, using a paintbrush. Place your Wiccan image on the smooth backside of the tile so the letter printed on the tile will not show through the paper.

    • 6

Place your Wiccan image onto the center of the tile and press to set it in the medium. Use your finger to smooth out any bubbles. Allow drying for at least 15 minutes, or according to manufacturer's instructions for the medium.

    • 7

Brush a thin layer of decoupage medium over the image and around the sides of the wood tile. Decoupage medium dries clear and this step will seal your image onto the tile and add a protective layer. Allow to dry for about 30 minutes to set.

    • 8

Brush a layer of dimensional adhesive over the sides and top of the pendant using a paintbrush. Immediately brush off any drips and tap the paintbrush over any bubbles that form. Dimensional adhesive will dry clear and with a glass-like finish, creating a final protective layer. Allow drying for at least six hours.

    • 9

Place a drop of instant glue on the back of the Aanraku jewelry bail and attach the bail to the back of the pendant. The rounded bail should sit flush with the top of the pendant. Allow drying and setting for about one minute.

    • 10

Allow the pendant to cure for about 36 hours when completed. The dimensional adhesive needs at least this long to set before wearing.

    • 11

Thread the pendant onto a silver chain or cord for wearing.

Tips & Warnings

  • To cover the imprinted letter on back, locate a coordinating paper that will match the Wiccan symbol image you downloaded and decoupage onto the tile. You can use scrapbook or origami papers, with very small printed patterns. This paper will cover the back of your pendant, giving you an attractive back in case your pendant turns when wearing.

  • If you have rough edges once you decoupage the paper on the tile, use a soft grit metal file to file the paper so it is flush with the tile.
