How to Crochet Lawn Goose Clothes
No need for your lawn goose to go naked. Clothe your goose in a weatherproof gown that you crochet from plastic-bag yarn you make yourself. There are no hard and fast rules when clothing your goose. Start with a variation on a simple shopping tote and incorporate touches inspired by crocheted clothing and accessories intended for 18-inch fashion dolls.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic shopping bags
- Scissors
- Crochet hook, size J or K
- Large safety pin

1
Lay a plastic shopping bag on a flat surface. Cut off the bag's handles and bottom seam with scissors. Fold the remaining bag lengthwise in half, fold again into quarters and fold once more into eighths to make a long strip. Cut across the strip at 1 1/2-inch intervals.

Unroll the cut pieces of plastic, now in several loops. Tie the loops together by slipping one end of a loop around another loop and inserting the first loop through its own opposite end. Connect several loops together this way, making a length of plastic-bag yarn. Wind the yarn into a ball as you go to prevent its tangling.

Use the plastic-bag yarn and the hook to make a chain long enough to fit over the goose's head. Slip stitch into the first chain stitch to form a ring. Chain two stitches. Work enough single crochet stitches into the ring to cover it completely. At the end of the round, mark your starting point with the large safety pin. Move the pin up to keep track of the rounds. Make two single crochets in each single crochet in the previous round.

4
Work one single crochet in the first stitch. Work two single crochets in the next. Alternate these steps to the end of the round. Then make one crochet in each of the next two stitches. Work two single crochets in the next three stitches and two singles in the next one. Continue crocheting rounds in this way, making one additional single crochet before working the two crochets in the same stitch.

5
Work enough rounds until the goose's dress is long enough to cover its body. Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Put the dress on the goose.
