How to Unplug Wires From a Center Stack on a Mini Cooper
Accessing wires inside the center stack on the Mini Cooper is a simple procedure when you want to access faulty wires, and perform do-it-yourself car modifications such as adding an aftermarket stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation aids or DVD players. As with any electrical work on an automobile, disconnect the car battery's negative terminal using an adjustable wrench before starting your project.
Things You'll Need
- Adjustable wrench
- T-40 Torx wrench
- T-20 Torx wrench
- Panel popper
- Phillips screwdriver

Remove the four Phillips screws securing the center consoles downtubes.

Remove the front ashtrays to reveal the front two screws.

Use a panel popper to pry up the mirror and seat heater switch panel. This gives you access to two more screws.

Remove the screws securing the fascia uprights using the T-40 Torx wrench.

Pull down the under dash on the driver's side.

Open the glove box to reveal two more screws. Unscrew them using the Phillips screwdriver.

Slide the console rearward until you can remove the uprights. This gives access to four screws holding the radio.

Remove the four screws with the T-20 Torx wrench.

Remove the radio to reveal the connectors. Unclip the connectors to remove the radio.

Disconnect and remove the radio to gain access to the wires.
