Acute accents occur in Asian and European languages that are written in the Roman alphabet. Acute accent marks occur over a vowel. The letter "e" with an acute accent looks like this: é.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Microsoft Windows

Step1
Open the Character Map. (Open the Start menu and choose Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools and then Character Map.)
Step2
Locate the vowel with the acute accent over it.
Step3
Click the vowel, then click Select, then Copy.
Step4
Go to your document and place the cursor at the spot where you want the vowel and the acute accent to appear.
Step5
Paste the vowel into your document.

Tips & Warnings

  • Certain software applications, such as Microsoft Word, allow you to insert acute accents within the application. Look for an Insert menu and commands such as Insert Symbol or Insert Special Characters.
