How to Jazz Up Your Book Bag
Nobody wants to take a plain old book bag to school. Encourage your child to get creative and express her inner artist by personalizing her bag. Paint on the bag with fabric paints. Fabric paints come in squeeze tubes and can be used to doodle on backpacks. For more elaborate designs, use a paintbrush to paint on the bag. First draw the design with a pencil then fill it in with paint.

Put some of your favorite photos on your bag. Buy iron-on transfer paper. Print pictures from your computer onto the transfer paper then iron them onto the book bag.

Turn your bag into an autograph book bag. Encourage your friends to sign it using permanent markers. They can write well wishes for the school year, their favorite inspirational quote or saying, or simply sign their name. Your backpack will then become a treasured memento.

Hot-glue artificial flowers, sequins or other dainty decorations on your bag for a chic, ultra-feminine look. Add some glitz in the form of iron-on studs and stones or crystals and rhinestones. You can even spell out your name or initials with them.

Make your backpack reflect your main interest. If you play baseball, for example, cut a big baseball out of white felt or fabric and decorate it with fabric paint. Hot-glue it or sew it onto your backpack. You can make a cheer-leading megaphone with felt and craft pom poms. For a band member, cut out musical notes and affix them to the bag.
