How to Sell Out of State on Craigslist
Sell an item out of state on Craigslist if attempts to sell the item within your state are unsuccessful. Craigslist officially recommends that users deal only with other locals, so limit how far away you list the item to avoid getting scammed or misled. Use unique wording when posting ads in different geographical areas so Craigslist doesn't flag the ad as a duplicate.

1
Visit your home Craigslist site. Click the "us cities" or "us state" buttons located along the right side of the page and navigate through the lists to locate the Craigslist on which you want to post the item. Click the name of the city or region of your choice.
-
2
Click "Post to Classifieds." Select the category -- and, if necessary, subcategory -- that best fits your item.

-
3
Input a title that concisely describes your item, your location and the item's price. Write a description for the item and, optionally, add up to four small pictures to the ad. Do not use the exact same text from any of your existing listings as Craigslist may flag the ad as a duplicate listing. Click "Continue" to see a preview of the ad, then enter the jumbled image code and click "Submit."
-
4
Arrange full payment via a confirmed payment method -- such as PayPal or cash in person -- before sending the item or driving it to the person who purchases it. Don't accept Western Union money orders, particularly if the buyer tells you to deposit the money order into your bank account. Money orders and cashier checks can be easily faked, and keep in mind that anyone who asks you to send funds using a wire service is most likely a scammer.
