How to Make a Wordle Cloud
Wordle is a website that uses a web based application to create word clouds from the text you enter. A word cloud is a grouping of words in a collage style. You can take a screen shot of your Wordle word cloud so that you can use the cloud as an image on your blog or social networking sites. You may also print out the Wordle cloud so that it can be used in greeting cards, scrapbooks or to decorate your space.

Brainstorm a theme for your Wordle cloud. If you are making a cloud for a special occasion you would want words associated with the event. For example for a wedding you might list words like wedding, love, bride, groom, gown and cake. If you are using a Wordle cloud to decorate your room you might want to include your name as well as words that describe you.

Type your list of words in a word processing program such as Microsoft Word or in a text editor such as Notepad and save the list. If you want certain words to appear bigger in your Wordle cloud type those words multiple times. Wordle determines the size of words in the cloud by how often a word is used. The more a word is used the larger it will be. If there are certain words you want to have grouped together use a tilde symbol, ~, between the words. For example if you want the words "happy couple" to be grouped together you would type it "happy~couple" in your list.

Highlight and copy the words you have typed for your list.

Go to the Wordle website and click the "Create" button at the top of the screen. Paste the text you have copied into the box at the top of the screen. Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the screen.

Customize your Wordle cloud by changing the layout, font and colors used in the cloud using the buttons at the top of the cloud.

Press the print button at the bottom of the screen to print out a hard copy of your Wordle cloud on your printer.

Press the Print Screen button on your keyboard to take a screenshot of your Wordle Cloud. Open up Microsoft Paint or a similar image editing program on your computer and paste your Wordle Cloud into a blank document.

Use the cropping feature in your image editing software to make the file an appropriate size than select the "Save As" option to save the Wordle cloud as an image file that you can edit in other image editing program, print out or share on the Internet.

If you have a blog you can enter the URL on the create page to automatically create a word cloud based on the words used regularly.
