How to Make a Blogspot Portfolio

As of 2011, Blogspot is no more. It joined the Google network as Blogger, but despite the name change, a lot of Blogspot remains in Blogger. The site is still totally free and easy to use; the only difference is that you now need a Google account to use Blogger. After you've signed up for Google, Blogger is your playground and you can have your portfolio online in no time at all.

Instructions

Collect all of the digital materials for your portfolio. If you are showcasing your graphic design work, make sure you have all of the images you want to display in a common folder. If you do video work, keep all of your video files together. You can insert both types of media into a Blogger post easily, or you can host the images or video off-site on Flickr or YouTube -- both Google projects, now -- and integrate them with Blogger. If your portfolio focuses only on your writing, open the documents you wish to post.

Log into Blogger using your Google account ID and password. Click on "Customize" along the top toolbar to access your Blogger settings. By default, you are taken to the Template page where you can choose from installed templates or add new ones to change how your blog displays. Click "Upgrade Your Template" to see a list of available designs. Choose a design you like and click "Save Template."

Edit the elements of your new template to best suit your portfolio. You can add or remove gadgets -- automated functions for blogs like polls, article lists and ads -- and drag elements of the design around to have the template look like you want. How you arrange the elements is entirely up to you and may depend on the type of portfolio you are creating. Click "Save" when you are ready to upload your content.

Click "Dashboard" along the top menu to return to your main Blogger screen, and then click "New Post" to begin adding parts of your portfolio. Type the text you wish to appear with each item (or paste entire blog posts in from a word processor). Click the image or video icons to add multimedia content and click "Publish Post" when finished. Repeat this step to add subsequent portfolio items.
