How to Create a Status on Facebook From a Text Message thumbnail
Some mobile devices have an application specifically for Facebook.

While many smartphones, such as the iPhone, offer applications that cater to Facebook users, any cellphone with texting capabilities can be used to update your Facebook status. Once you link your Facebook and cellphone accounts, updating the status at the top of your profile page is accomplished by sending a text message. While Facebook does not charge for the service, your cellphone provider will apply its standard text message fees to the texts you send to Facebook.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up for the Facebook mobile text program if you have not done so already. Go to the "Account" link at the top of any Facebook page and choose "Account Settings" from the menu. Click on the "Mobile" tab, located on the left side of the screen, and then click the green "Add a Phone" button. Use the pop-up window to provide your cellphone number and provider. Once Facebook texts you a confirmation number, enter it in the field provided to link your phone and Facebook account.

    • 2

Open the texting application on your cellphone and enter 32665 (FBOOK) as the recipient of your text message.

    • 3

Type your status update as the body of your text message and send it--the message will post as a status update on your Facebook profile immediately. It will show up on your profile wall and may also appear in the news feed of your friends.
