How to Close AOL Mail

Your AOL username is permanently deleted when you close your email account.

When you decide to close your AOL Mail account, you immediately lose access to the account. All of the emails in your account's inbox and saved folders are permanently removed. In addition to losing the email account, you also lose access to other AOL member services that are associated with your AOL username. Although you can contact AOL member services to cancel the AOL account, you can also do so online.

Instructions

1. Open a Web browser and access Myaccount.aol.com. Log in to your AOL Mail account with your username and password.

2. Provide the answer for the security question and click "Continue."

3. Click "Manage My Services and Subscriptions" to see your AOL subscriptions including email.

4. Click "Cancel" and review the disclaimer regarding canceling your AOL Mail account.

5. Click the reason for canceling your account in the drop-down list.

6. Click "Cancel AOL" to close the AOL Mail account. A confirmation message is displayed on the next Web page.
