Add an important number to a friendship bracelet with beads.

Incorporate a meaningful number into a friendship bracelet. For some friends, a particular number may remind them of an event or day during their friendship. Numbered beads come in hundreds of styles and forms. Select a bead style that reflects the friendship and number's meaning. For example, if the friendship blossomed during a camping trip, use wooden number beads to display the longitude and latitude of the trip.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut two 20-inch pieces of embroidery floss. Tie the two strings together in a double knot at one end.

    • 2

Open a safety pin. Slip the point of the safety pin into the knot. Close the safety pin.

    • 3

Tape the safety pin to a surface so the strings lay flat.

    • 4

Hold one string in each hand. Bring the string on the right over the string on the left to make a backwards "L."

    • 5

Pinch the strings together where they cross with one hand. Slip your thumb and index finger through the backwards "L" to form the first part of a backwards knot. Pinch the portion of the string used to make the backwards "L" and pull it through letter shape. Pull on both pieces of string to tighten the knot. Repeat the steps to make the second part of the knot.

    • 6

Make backwards knots until the bracelet is half-complete.

    • 7

Twist the ends of the string together with your fingers. Wrap a 1 inch piece of masking tape around the ends of the strings to make a point.

    • 8

Push the masking tape through the numbered bead. Push the beads to the knots made in the strings.

    • 9

Tear the masking tape off the strings. Tie backwards knots until all but 1 inch of the strings are used.

    • 10

Tie a double knot with the tails of the bracelet to complete it.
