How to Make a Friendship Bracelet Out of Only Three Pieces of String
Friendship bracelets have been made and exchanged by friends since the 1970s. There are a variety of patterns you can use to make friendship bracelets. Some are more complex than others but the simplest can be made with just three pieces of string. Choose string in your friend's favorite colors to make the gift more personal.

1
Take the three pieces of string or embroidery floss and tie them together, leaving about a 3-inch tail.

2
Tape the tied end to a table or other stable surface.

3
Take the piece of string on the farthest left and tie a knot around the middle string by holding the middle string tightly and crossing the first string across it, making a "4" shape. Bring the end of the first string behind the middle string and pull it through, creating a knot. Repeat the process, so you have made two knots.

Take the first string and repeat the process with the third string, again making two knots. The first string will now be on the far right.
-
5
Repeat the process with the new farthest left string and continue until the bracelet is as long as you want it to be, remembering to leave about 3 inches at the end to tie the bracelet onto your friend's wrist.
