How to End a Blanket when Knitting
The traditional method of binding off a knitted project is to cross each knit stitch over the next with your knitting needles. When knitting a blanket, however, you are usually left with a long bind-off edge. To bind off a lot of stitches faster, some knitters prefer to use a crochet hook. For knitters who have never crocheted, a crochet bind-off will familiarize you with holding a crochet hook, and perhaps inspire a love of a new craft.

1
Insert the crochet hook into the first stitch on the left knitting needle from left to right, front to back, just as you would insert a knitting needle.
-
2
Yarn over the top of the crochet hook from right to left, as you would when making a crochet stitch.
-
-
3
Pull the yarn over through the knit stitch and pull the stitch off the left needle.
-
4
Insert the hook through the next knit stitch and yarn over.
-
5
Pull the wrap through the stitch on the needle and the stitch on the crochet hook. Pull the stitch off the knitting needle.
-
6
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you come to the end of the row. Cut or break the working yarn and wrap the tail around the crochet hook as if making a crochet stitch. Pull the tail all the way through the stitch so both the crochet hook and the knitting needle are free.
