How to Show I'm Away on Facebook
Facebook has a built-in chat function that you can use to instant message or video chat with your Facebook friends. Unlike other IM platforms, Facebook chat has no "away" status. You are shown as online, idle or offline. Facebook automatically sets the "idle" status when you have not typed or click on anything on the page for a set period of time. If you want your friends to know you are away from your computer, you can set your chat status to "offline."
